Highights

It was the first Christian cathedral in the city. Built on the remains of the ancient Roman Forum, on  a Visigothic church that was later the main mosque of Zaragoza and after the Christian conquest by Alfonso I in 1118 it was consecrated to Christian worship as a cathedral under the invocation of San Salvador on his Epiphany. That is why There is a great mix of architectural styles. Its baroque tower hides the old minaret of the mosque. This cathedral was the place where the coronation of the new Kings of Aragon was celebrated and where they were sworn in. the Fueros. In its sacristy there are the relics of San Valero, patron saint of Zaragoza. Annexed to the parish is the chapel of San Miguel Árgangel, known as “ "la parroquieta", a magnificent representation of the Mudejar style

Built on the old mosque, it contains seven centuries of art history, from the 12th to the 18th century. Its eclectic decoration stands out, ranging from Romanesque to neoclassical. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2001 for its Mudejar decoration. Its Museum of Flemish tapestries from the 15th, 16th and 16th centuries XVII is one of the best collections in the world.
