Hernando de Aragón, archbishop of Zaragoza, proposed the construction of this building in 1541 for commercial exchanges  that were traditionally carried out in the atrium of the Seo and other churches. The naves and vaults inside are surprising. The upper part of the exterior walls are decorated with painted plaster heads of Aragonese characters of the time: kings, nobles, bishops, merchants, artisans. Nowadays it hosts important exhibitions of painting, sculpture and photography. On its façade closest to the river there is a sculpture, “the horse of the Lonja” which pays tribute to the photographer Ángel Cordero, who photographed For more than 50 years, children rode on their cardboard horses who wanted to take a souvenir from Zaragoza
