The church completed in 1652 has a magnificent baroque altarpiece, as well as a such as the choir stalls made of walnut wood, considered one of the main ones in Spain
The façade of the monastery is very simple. Its plateresque façade stands out with the image of San Martiño. To overcome the unevenness of the terrain, a hill was built. the beautiful access staircase, inspired by that of the Cathedral. At the end of the 15th century it became in the richest and most powerful monastery in Galicia. After the confiscation of 1835 it had different uses and since 1868 it has housed the headquarters of the Major Seminary of the Compostela archdiocese. In 1991 part of the monastery was restored and is currently a University residence, headquarters of the Faculties of Theology and Social Work. The monastery also serves as a Diocesan museum and has an important collection of paintings, sculptures, metalwork, manuscripts, a printing press, an apothecary and a natural history cabinet
