Highights
Known in the 12th century as the “Forum” It was one of the main meeting places for its inhabitants and the place where the town crier read the ArchbishopL' ordinances and municipal agreements. That's why one of the streets is called “del Preguntoiro”.In this square Autos de Fe of the Holy Inquisition were made, proof of this is a column that reminds us of the place where the prisoners were executed. It was a market place and was called Plaza do Campo until the transfer of the market to Plaza de Abastos. From the 19th century onwards the square was renamed Cervantes. A bust of the writer presides over the square and reminds us of his surnames of origin. Galician.
