On this visit your guide will show you The Gallery of the Royal Collections is a museum center dependent on the National Heritage. It is located in a building located in the Campo del Moro gardens, next to the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Palace of said city.

Although originally intended to display tapestries and carriages, it is finally built. It is also intended to house luxury objects, furniture, sculpture, architectural elements, paintings and other pieces of art or history that the different kings of Spain treasured throughout their history.

Among the 650 pieces, including paintings, furniture and models that will be exhibited in the Museum permanently or temporarily, the following stand out:

• The Polyptych of Isabella the Catholic by John of Flandes.
• The White Horse by Diego Velázquez.
• Salomé with the head of John the Baptist by Caravaggio.
• Lamentation over the Dead Christ by Anton Raphael Mengs.
• The armor and helmet used by Charles V in the battle of Mühlberg.
• The black carriage of Queen Mariana of Austria.
