Pablo Picasso lived He spent his training period in Barcelona and established strong ties with the City. In 1960, his friend and secretary Jaume Sabartés and Picasso himself proposed to the Barcelona City Council the creation of a museum dedicated to his work. In 1963 the museum became a reality and opened its doors in the Palacio Aguilar number 15 on Montcada Street.  Initially, due to Picasso#39s opposition to the Franco regime, the name of the museum was the Sabartés Collection and it was made up of the collection of Picasso#39s works from the Barcelona Art Museums and the collection ;n your friend's personal. You can admire works such as “Man with a Beret”, “Portrait of Aunt Pepa”, “ Science and charity”, “ The Divan, “The Woman in the Coif,“ The hug” and his peculiar way of seeing  “ “Las Meninas” belonging to the artist#39s blue period, together with an extensive program of temporary exhibitions, complete the artist#39s permanent collection. 

Today the space has become a basic place for knowledge and education, fostering a critical spirit and visitor participation

In five Gothic style palaces, largely renovated, although it is possible to find some original area where you can see the style of life of the city's elite during the 19th century, the Picasso Museum is located, all of them linked by an interior corridor. It has a collection of almost 4,250 works including painting, drawing, writing, and engravings. Most of them about the artist#39s youth.
