This Park was an attempt to create an urbanization surrounded by nature in the old town of Gràcia, a real estate project promoted by Eusebi Güell. The property had 15 hectares and a total of 40 single-family houses were to be built. Only two were built, one of which was occupied by Gaudí himself. and it is currently its House-Museum.
In the different elements that make up the park today, Gaudí's imagination is evident. The pavilions at the entrance to the enclosure, initially intended for concierge, today house the Park Güel Interpretation Center. The staircase, with the famous colored ceramic dragon, gives access to the hypostyle hall, a space of 86 columns that supports the weight of the large plaza above. The undulating bench that follows the perimeter of the square is the work of Jujol, one of Gaudí's collaborators. in the construction of this park that has been declared a World Heritage Site.
Park Güell regulates the entrance to visitors to guarantee the quality of the tourist visit as well as the leisure of residents and users. It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance to avoid waiting time and to reserve your access time. When purchasing the ticket you are including access to the Bus Güell, the shuttle bus that will take you to quickly and directly to Park Güell from the Alfons X metro stop.
It was projected like an English-style garden city here The name Park was given, and it became in the most unique public park in Barcelona. The relationship between nature and architecture is taken to its maximum exponent: paths, porches and viaducts are integrated into nature.
