Highights
The Ermita de Santiago is the oldest Christian parish in Marbella. It was a mosque consecrated after the Reconquista. In 1505 the archbishop of Seville erected it. Parish and had that status until approximately the 17th century. XVII that happened to acquire the category of hermitage.
It is a simple construction, with a single nave, with a rectangular floor plan (8x16 meters). Flat roof inside and gabled roof on the outside. From the outside, a small sword stands out. On the side of the temple that faces the Plaza de los Naranjos, a niche contains a contemporary sculpture of the Apostle Santiago.
