The Albufera area is located about ten kilometers from the city of Valencia and has twenty-four square kilometers completely surrounded by rice fields. Due to its natural layout and its climate with an average temperature of about 18ºCa great diversity of flora and fauna have developed, many of them in danger of extinction. Some of the species that we can find there are the fartet, the samaruc, the eel, the sea bass, the red duck, the common spoonbill, the heron, the common tern, the black-legged tern, the common stork, the seagull, the coastal dunes, the salt marshes, the Mediterranean forest and the reed areas. In addition, the Albufera has six islets that are home to dense vegetation.
None.
The name of the Albufera de Valencia derives from the Arabic word ""al-buhayra"" which means the small sea, a space that today is considered one of the most important coastal wetlands in the entire country and has been protected as a Natural Park since 1986. This natural space has become one of the favorite places of visitors to the city for the diversity of its vegetation and fauna and for its beautiful boat rides to contemplate the spectacular sunsets that it offers us.
