Highights

The property where the exhibition is located houses < strong>a section of the old wall and part of a Roman sewage system inside, making it the perfect place to talk about the uses of water in the city ​​throughout history. This building is made up of a traditional Cordoba floor plan around a patio where the exhibition rooms have been located inside, and on the outside it has the typical whitewashed walls full of colorful flowers, in addition ;s of a well and a cistern that give meaning to the whole.


According to the order established in its five rooms we can find topics that deal with water supply in the city and the techniques used for it in the first, the different typologies of storage and transportation of the water that we have used over the centuries in the second, public fountains and their function as meeting places in the third, the trades related to water that have already disappeared, such as that of washerwomen and water carriers in the fourth, and finally, the techniques for collecting water and maintaining houses and gardens in the last .

La Casa del Agua was founded by Luis Celorio, an artist passionate about the subject he created. The creation of this space as a place to reflect on the importance of its existence, value the natural resource and rethink in a personal way the possibilities of consumption of this good. Since 2019, this private initiative, unique in Spain, has tried to reach the deepest depths of visitors through its audiovisual museographic discourse that deals with < strong>the life of water in Córdobathroughout the centuries, emphasizing in its uses and customs and evolution, in the difficulties it has encountered, as well as as in the archaeological remains and infrastructures used in the different historical periods.
