The permanent exhibition of the work of Pepe Espaliú It is distributed over two floors around a traditional Cordoban porticoed patio. In it we can see works representative of his entire professional career between 1975 and 1993, the year in which he died. due to AIDS at only 38 years old. This artist#39s creations dealt with practically all media: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, video art, writing and performances, the latter being fundamental in the history of Spanish art. since he was one of the first authors in our country to put it into practice in the 1980s.
The work of Pepe Espaliú At first it had a great impact in avant-garde cities such as New York, Amsterdam and Paris, where they knew how to value his tireless studies on topics such as identity and in his last years, the disease, and which laid the foundations for future reflections made by other artists on these issues. A year after his death, in 1994, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía gave him the first of his numerous and well-deserved tributes in Spain.
