The collections are distributed inside the building around a patio centralfrom which starts an impressive baroque vaulted staircase made in the 18th century and decorated with exquisite polychrome plasterwork. The baroque chapel is another of the notable places of the palace, it has five wooden altarpieces bathed in gold. Throughout the tour we will be able to contemplate the collections on display with numerous models, audiovisuals, sculptures, paintings, furniture, liturgical instruments, clothing and other objects related to the religious institutions of Córdoba. span>

In 2020, an important remodeling and rehabilitation project in the building that has sought to expand the museum recovering the upper floors, achieve a better distribution of the spaces and communicate them through a newly built staircase and open a large Interpretation Center and reception for visitors to the nearby Mosque-Cathedral. During the execution of these refurbishment works, remains from the 15th century have been found that will be preserved in situ so that they can be shown to visitors in the same place where they were discovered.

Long description

The Diocesan Museum of Córdoba located in front of the Mosque-Cathedral occupies part of the Episcopal Palace since it was inaugurated in 1989. This large collection shows the religious artistic heritage of the entire province from the Middle Ages to the present day. The historic building that houses the works was built on the old Umayyad fortress, it is a wonderful example of the cultural variety that the city has had throughout history since during the visit we can see Roman, Visigoth, and Muslim vestiges and Christians in the same space.
