Highights

Inspired by those of the Alcázar of Seville, the a tower with an octagonal plan attached to a large semicircular arch that rests on the Puerta del Rincón and in which we can contemplate the inscription mentioned above and a strong>shield with the Royal Arms. According to the legend, Fernando Alonso de Córdoba would have murdered his wife and Jorge de Córdoba y Solier, Commander of Cabeza de Buey and his cousin for having seduced her. The truth is that this albarrana tower was built on the remains of an ancient Muslim bastion located in the Santa Marina neighborhood between the years 1404 and 1408 with the purpose of defending the nearby gates of the Rincó wall. n and Colodro. We know these data relating to its construction thanks to the inscription that has been preserved inside the arch, which also tells us how King Henry III ordered the building. the construction of said tower to the first mayor of the city, Don Penedro Sánchez.
