The Church of the Oath of Saint Rafae was raised in the 18th century in the same place where tradition says that the archangel Saint Raphael appeared to Father Roelas in the year 1578,swearing to guard the city and its inhabitants. The neoclassical temple was erected thanks to a popular subscription that was able to finance the work of the architect Vicente López Cardera and which ended in the year 1806. Today it continues to function as a religious temple and canonical headquarters of the Brotherhood of San Rafael.
