The Wall built on the hill still has more than three meters wide and about five meters high, three square towers of Arab origin topped by peaked battlements, another four circular bastions strong> that were addedafter the conquest of the city by the Christians that occurred in the year 1147 by King Alfonso VII and the remains of the Puerta de la Almudaina. Since its construction it has undergone numerous modifications throughout history. Nowadays, in this place, in addition to the walled enclosure, we can find the Castle of San Cristóbal in an outpost where it is a ruin and the modern image of the Sacred Heart. of Jesus, five meters high, carved in Macael marble by the Granada sculptor José Navas-Parejo in 1930. The entire complex was declared a Historical-Artistic Monument in 1931 and later the wall was considered a of Cultural Interest.

The wall located on the San Cristóbal Hill in Almería, it is the only surviving section of the old wall that surrounded the entire city in Muslim times and was built by order of Jayrán , the first king of the Taifa of Almería in the11th century. This section specifically was erected to protect the neighborhood of the Wall between the years 1012 and 1028 that descended from the hill towards the city.
