Highights
The property has about 500 square meters divided into two floors that are connected through an elevator and stairs where exhibitions and conferences related to marine themes are held. In this year 2021, the monthly programming will deal with: the following topics: ‘All for the sea Project: fishermen and sailors custodians of the sea’, ‘It is not garbage. Arribazones and foams"", ""Marine species of the Almeria coast"", ""The problems that affect our seas and oceans"", ""Underwater archaeology"", ""Underwater archaeological heritage"", ""Té techniques for locating and studying underwater archaeological remains"", ""Global warming and how it affects the sea"", ""Restoration in Roquetas"", ""Equipment for nautical sports"", ""The technology in oceanographic research, ‘Naval modelling’ and ‘Almeria Lighthouses’, among others.
The Aula del Mar has the distinction of ""Blue Center"" awarded by the Environmental and Consumer Education Association for promoting responsible tourism and contributing to raising awareness of environmental problems. Two conditions to become a Blue Center are to have Blue Flag beaches - Roquetas de Mar has six - and to have an interpretation center that deals with environmental education and sustainable development.

The Aula del Mar is a flora interpretation center and maritime faunathat lives in the surroundings of Roquetas de Mar whose mission, in addition to informing about different species, is to value this coastal area to achieve a sustainable development. The museum has an innovative museographic program where there are areas with sea noises, spaces dedicated to cetaceans, replicas of dolphins, games interactives, a panel on birdlife and a space dedicated to Posidonea and the species that inhabit it recreated in an aquarium. The latest technologies with these tactile and auditory resources help in this process of environmental awareness, reaching all types of visitors.
