The origin of the Casa de Campo takes place with Philip II, who wanted to buy land before establishing the court in Madrid strong> to expand their domains to El Pardo. He buys the house from the Vargas family. After demolishing it, he commissioned Juan Bautista de Toledo to build the new palace and gave it the status of Royal Site until 1931. He ordered the construction of fountains, grottos, waterfalls and a strong>cropping area with more than 2000 fruit trees such as the famous Huerta de la Partida, a viewpoint from where you can contemplate the Royal Palace and the Almudena Cathedral from the other side of the Manzanares River.
