Highights

This park was part of the Royal Site of Moncloa. In 1906 it was transferred to the city council and it was Mayor Alberto Aguilera who gave it its current name. Cecilio Rodríguez was in charge of rebuilding the park after the civil war. You can still see them. the remains of 3 bunkers for machine guns. If we walk through this area we will find  the artificial estuary 600 meters long

It is a park with a great variety of plant species, especially conifers. .Highlights a cedar “·el Abuelo” cataloged as a singular tree.

Special mention is the Rose Garden in the southern area of ​​the park with 15,000 square meters  and where every year, in May, the International Rose Competition of the City of Madrid

has been held since 1956.

You can cross to the Casa de Campo through the Cable Car whose entrance is located on Paseo del Pintor Rosales. The best sunsets take place in this part of the city. Featured monument in the park is  the Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple from the 2nd century BC, donated by the Egyptian authorities in gratitude to Spain for helping to save the temples that were sinking during the construction of the Dam Aswan. Here the famous executions of May 3  painted by Goya took place.

The old china factory was built in the park under the reign of   Ferdinand VII. Nearby is the ceramics school.

The park is located in the Moncloa district, between Avenida del Arco de la Victoria and Paseo de Pintor Rosales. Inside is the Temple of Debod. Its rose garden stands out, where every year in the month of May a contest is held where Madrid residents can participate by voting for their favorite rose. . Inside the park there is the ceramic school and you can seeremains of the old Earthenware factorycreated by Fernando VII.
