The Royal Site of Buen Retiro, just 2 km from the Royal Palace, was built in the 17th century under the reign of Philip IV, a privileged place around the majestic Jerónimos Monastery where there was a room that the Kings used in times of mourning to retire (hence the name). Various fountains are placed, such as the Artichoke fountain or the Fallen Angel fountain, and palaces are built, such as the Cristal one, created as greenhouse for the Philippine Exposition and the palace of Velázquez whose architect was Ricardo Velázquez Bosco.
