Highights

The museum's permanent exhibition is organized into three large blocks related to sculpture and painting, goldsmithing and clothing, which in turn follow a chronological route. . There are many outstanding pieces in this center such as a canvas with the theme of the Martyrdom of Saint Lucía made by Luis Paret and other paintings by famous artists such as Antonio Carnicero, Julio Romero de Torres, Valentin de Zubiaurre, Luis Salvador Carmona. In goldsmithing there is the reconstruction of the workshop of Eloy García, the last traditional goldsmith who worked in the area. in Bilbao, chalices, monstrances, votive crowns, and also has a room on contemporary religious art.

The Museum of Sacred Art of Bilbao was inaugurated in 1995 in the premises of the former Dominican convent of La Encarnación built in the 16th century with the aim of conserving, studying and disseminating the historical-artistic heritage of the Diocese of Bilbao. It currently has a collection of more than 2,000 pieces between the 12th and 20th centuries and a didactic activity "Escape Room" that poses interactive puzzles to learn about the collections in a fun and innovative way.
