The Aljibe del Rey stored both rainwater and the water that came from a neighboring irrigation ditch. To be able to see it there will be to enterinto the Carmen del Rey.But what is a Carmen? Carmen is what we call in Granada a type of home that has green spaces, a garden, orchard and, as is the case with this Carmen, it can also have its own cistern. Today within this space we can find the Water Interpretation Center, an educational place where we will be surprised by the discover the advanced water supply system used during the Andalusian period.
Weekends.
A Cistern is an architectural element that served as a drinking water tank, normally collecting rainwater. This Islamic cistern from the 11th century is the largest of all those we have in Granada, with capacity for more than 300 m3.
