Highights

In the exterior of the museum we can contemplate the power of the river that was formerly used to move the turbines of the mill machinery< /strong> for the production of flour, which was one of the economic engines of the entire province of Salamanca. Inside this mill built in 1881 and rehabilitated in the 20th century, we can find the original nineteenth-century machinery of the prestigious Swiss brand Bühler that constituted the mill. a very important advance in the flour production, since it passed from the stone system to the cylinder system. In addition, during the visit we can learn about all the phases of the grain transformation process into flour through explanatory panels. On the other hand, the Museum has cafeteria and restaurant services so we can enjoy local cuisine in this historic place.

The "El Sur" Flour Factory Museum was inaugurated in 2002 on the occasion of the Cultural Capital of the City of Salamanca. The collection is available in a flour factory that operated to the last century inside a mill built in the 19th century in the vicinity of the Roman Bridge, next to the Tormes River. In this museum we can learn how flour was made in the 19th century through the preserved remains and the explanatory panels found inside.
