Highights

Located in the Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo, popularly known as Plaza de Neptuno.

The fountain was designed by the architect  Madrid Ventura Rodríguez. It represents the god Neptune, god of the seas with his trident on a chariot. shaped like a shell pulled by two sea horses, a symbol of storms and rough seas. At first Cybele and Neptune looked at each other until at the end of the 19th century they were restructured. and they changed their location.

Next to the font Cybele and Apollo formed part of the decoration for the Salón del Prado. Dedicated to the god Neptune. It celebrates the victories of the Atlético de Madrid soccer team.
