Get on one of our buses in Barcelona to the magical mountain of Montserrat. Famous for its peculiar morphology, its name comes from the Catalan Mont (mountain) and Serrat (serrated). World famous for its rocky landscape, the Montserrat mountain was declared a National Park in 1987 to protect its cultural and natural heritage.
Follow your local guide and discover the history of the Monastery, as well as as its architectural style. Fall in love with the fusion of Gothic and Renaissance styles in its basilica and sanctuary. Discover that the importance of the place is due to the legend that tells of the miraculous appearance of a representation of the Virgin with the baby Jesus in one of the caves on the mountain, the Santa Cova. Visit this wooden carving, kept today in the monastery Church. The figure is popularly known as La Moreneta due to a reaction of the varnish over time, which has darkened it.
Montserrat is very linked to spirituality. Today a community of 80 monks inhabit the place following the rule of Saint Benedict. For this reason, in addition to the main monastery, the mountain is home to a large number of churches and hermitages, some already abandoned.
Your guided tour includes a tasting of excellent typical liquors and a visit to the Audiovisual Space. After the guided tour you will have free time to access the basilica and visit La Moreneta, admire the fabulous landscape and visit the market for agricultural and typical products of the area. With your visit to La Moreneta you will get a souvenir gift.
