<p>The exhibition, sponsored by the Banco Hispano Americano Foundation, has been possible due to the interest of the Metropolitan Museum in New York in mounting an exhibition dedicated to Velázquez, within its program of great Spanish painters ;oles. For that occasion, the Prado lent 17 Velázquez that were exhibited in an exhibition of 38 paintings. The Alfonso /strong>. The assembly has followed a chronological order, which, according to the director of the Prado, is the most logical and didactic. ""The montage helps to understand the painter's journey, from an initial tenebrism to the final apotheosis. We wanted to extend the painter's usual rooms, even with the same funds, and include, along with the museum's works, those that come from other places ""We do not intend a scenographic montage, but rather to present the paintings with the greatest serenity and naturalness possible.""</p>
