Located in an old textile factory in the heart of Barcelona, it offers the possibility of enjoying the first and only museum specialized in the modernist periodin Catalonia.
It was in the seventies, when the couple formed by Fernando Pinós and Maria Guirao, guided by their passion for art and in particular for modernism, began their activity as collectors. For 40 years they specialized in an era that at that time did not enjoy great consideration and compiled 350 works by 42 of the most representative artists of Catalan Modernism, such as: Josep Llimona , Joaquim Mir or Puig i Cadafalch among others, in their different disciplines: painting, sculpture, furniture and decorative arts.
The museum exhibits a large part of the objects and works of art that decorated the interiors of these emblematic Barcelona houses. It consists of an upper floor where the furniture and decorative arts are displayed with a room dedicated to Antoni Gaudí. which brings together a series of furniture that the architect designed following the concepts of functionality and ergonomics. Many of these designs decorated the buildings that he himself had designed, such as the furniture of Casa Batlló, La Casa Milà and the Calvet House. And a lower floor with painting, sculpture and stained glass.
The museum currently offers the possibility of attending and participating in a series of cultural activities scheduled throughout the year, with different themes and modalities, adopted at all audiences.
