It is the Museum of the arts of the object and design. More than 70,000 objects classified under the denomination of decorative arts or applied arts and spanning from the IV century BC. to the present day, with unique collections such as medieval fabrics, enamelled Catalan glass from the 16th century or the L´Alcora ceramics.
It is located in front of the unmistakable Torre Agba in the Plaza de Les Glòries and is the work of the architects Martorell, Bohigas, Mackay, Capdevila and Gual, who designed it expressly to preserve and display the collections that today a houses and takes an interesting tour through the history of design with very close examples and in a very didactic way.
It has four floors and throughout its rooms the historical collections of decorative arts are displayed: ceramics, fabrics, furniture, miniatures , sundials, wristwatches, a carriage.Clothes and fabrics: from the tightest corsets to the latest fashion catwalks.Collections of product design: the objects come to life to explain their meaning, through the screens, the authors exhibit their pieces and tell the origin of their creation, the meaning of the object and the reason what of its success.Graphic design and contemporary art collections: shows how graphic design revolutionized the world of art. the market, in Spain specifically, permeating the worlds of music, sports and almost all leisure activities of the time.
