Its purpose is the promotion and dissemination of figurative art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Among the alleys of the Barrio del Born is currently the MEAM. A neighborhood in which culture is always present and where the charm of the old town is reflected. A neighborhood that unites tradition with modernity. It differs from the rest of the museums in that it is not dedicated to abstract works but rather exhibits very realistic art and makes it very attractive to visit.
They have their headquarters in the Palau Gomis, an elegant 18th century building on Montcada Street. The objective of MEAM is to start from tradition to move towards the new century. For this reason, it presents a collection of paintings and sculptures, created by young artists who use the artistic world as a platform to publicize their works.
It houses more than 200 works with the same denominator: realism and figuration, divided into three categories: The contemporary figurative art, modern sculpture of the 20th century and Catalan sculptures of the 20th century. It also hosts very interesting temporary exhibitions.
Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
