Built in the 2nd century AD, a good part of the structure of the building has withstood the passage of time thanks to the solidity of the opus caementicium , a construction technique achieved through stone formwork and a very good quality lime mortar. It is a two-story building, whose rooms would be arranged around a central octagonal room.
Next to it is the torre de las Bovedas, an example of a watchtower that was part of the coastal defensive system established by the Christian monarchs after the conquest of this territory to the Muslims.
The baths were fundamental places for daily life in theRoman Empire, a symbol and indisputable factor of Romanization. These are facilities where, in addition to receiving baths, you could read, play sports, close a business, etc.
In short, we are faced with a complex and monumental building both in its architectural conception and in its own functionality.
