The enormous Botanical Garden of the city composed of 4.5 hectaress is managed by the University of Valencia and is located next to the old bed of the Turia River. Today it is declared as Asset of Cultural Interestl and is responsible for carrying out research and dissemination work through courses, exhibitions and conferences that take place throughout the year with the goal of promulgating the importance of botanical conservation in our society.
This garden has its origins in a < strong>old orchard from the 16th centurythat was created in order to preserve and learn about the different botanical species, but the germ of the current Botanical Garden would have to be placed at the beginning of the 19th century when Professor Félix Pizcueta expanded and improved The existing collections were examined and the greenhouse and the large shadehouse were created. Currently it has more than 3,000 different species from all over the world. strong> where palm trees, tropical trees, cacti and aquatic plants stand out.
