The Almeria luthier Antonio de Torres dedicated He dedicated his entire life to the making of wonderful guitars, for this reason today he is considered the father of the contemporary guitar. In 2013, a museum was dedicated to it. This museum space in his hometown in a commemorative event in which statuettes of a guitar designed by him were presented to famous personalities from the world of music. Since then, the museum aims to bring visitors not only to the world of the guitar, but to the entire paradise of Spanish music.
The Guitar Museum is located in a three-story building where its ten exhibition rooms and theassembly hall are distributed. strong> The visit begins on the ground floor with a visitor service center that gives way to the permanent exhibition where we can immerse ourselves in the following themes: the guitar through Art, the history of the Guitar, the workshop of the luthier Antonio de Torres and the birth of the contemporary guitar, Almería in the time of Antonio de Torres, the Torres in the world, a world of guitars, the Gallery of Guitarists, the teaching room, the interactive room and the audition room. The jewel of the collection is a Spanish guitar made in the year 1684, property of Antonio de Torres, considered the oldest in history.
In addition to this thematic tour, the institution has various exhibition rooms located in the basement of the building that allow you to visit them without having to go through the permanent collection, as well as How to go to the assembly hall to celebrate the numerous concerts and activities promoted by the museum. In 2017, the Luteria School was launched, a pioneer project in Spain, which is responsible for teaching the art of building musical instruments to all those who feel attracted to such an ancient profession.
