The first projects for the construction of this port infrastructure proposed a small ;or timber loading yard but in 1902 the Scottish company The Alquife Mines and Railways Company Limited began the work with 3824 tons of steel, 8000 m² of wood, 1152 m³ of concrete and a total of 1056 meters of railway tracks. We have to keep in mind that before the lifting of the ""English cable"" loading a ship with up to 8,000 tons was an arduous task that took eight or ten days. In the future it is intended to enhance the monument and transform the loading dock into a cultural center for the use and enjoyment of all Almerians.
