This park, located on the edge of Alameda de Osuna, in the Barajas district, is one of the most interesting historical gardens in Madrid. Built by order of the Duchess of Osuna in the 18th century. It is a combination of nature and art.
This romantic garden was built by order of the Duchess of Osuna between 1787 and 1839. Its idea was to build ponds that connected to the dance hall. plant thousands of flowers especially the lilacs that were his favorites. Upon his death, in 1834, the Capricho passed through different owners. During the Civil War they were built several air raid shelters. The Madrid City Council bought it. in 1974 and in 1985 it was declared A Site of Cultural Interest. This historic garden combines nature with different buildings that integrate the “whims” of the duchess Fountains, neoclassical constructions, sculptures, a dance hall, a beekeeper< /strong> and even a miniature war fort are some of the whims that can be admired.
