The Sephardic Museum o Museum of the Jewish Quarter was born in the year 2013 as a private initiative at the hands of the family of Beatriz Chevalier with the aim of recreating the culture , the history, characters and traditions of the Sephardic Jews of Jewish Granada or Granata al-Yahud, as they called the city. This cultural center is located in atraditional house in the Realejo neighborhood, the Jewish neighborhood before the expulsion of this community in the year 1492.
Inside the museum we can see different sections that deal with the limits of ancient Juderia, the places and objects of worship that were used in synagogues and in the domestic sphere, the commercial areas, the main trades and crafts , the typical gastronomy of the community and the ceramic objects that were used in the houses and its scientists, writers, politicians and famous personalitiesand their famous works. In addition, this study center for Sephardic Jews has a specialized bookstore and offers modern Hebrew classes for anyone who is interested in learning. interested in this ancient language.
