The Ría de Bilbao Maritime Museum is a huge exhibition center of about 20,000 square meters located on the docks of the< strong> old Euskalduna shipyards, space for boats, the Pump House and the Carola Crane. Today this space aims to disseminate the heritage generated by maritime activity around the Bilbao estuary from a playful and eclectic perspective. innovative through reconstructions, models and audiovisual media.
The enormous surface of the museum is divided into two spaces, one interior and one exterior. In the interior area, separated into two floors, we can see the permanent exhibition and the temporary exhibitions. It is articulated around three main themes: the physical environment of the estuary, the evolution of commerce in Bilbao and its surroundings, and the evolution of the industry in relation to the environment. In the outer area, on the estuary docks, another part of the exhibition is located where we will find the boats, anchors, buoys or the crane. to Carola, among others.
