It is a private cultural entity founded in 1912 to promote the activity of a group of students who disagreed with the teaching methods of the Academy of Fine Arts. The current headquarters was created by the architect Antonio Palacios and inaugurated by Alfonso most innovative artistic currents. From its 56-meter-high rooftop you can see one of the best views of Madrid. The statue of the goddess Minerva, Roman goddess of wisdom and art, is crowned above the building. This entity has been named a World Heritage Site since 1981.
