The Anaya Palace in Salamanca is a historic building built in the 18th century to give continuity to a previous one that had been founded beginning of the 15th century by Diego de Anaya, from which its name derives, as the firstCollege of Residence in Spain to welcome students arriving from other parts of the world to train in different disciplines at the prestigious Salamanca university.
The current building replaced to the previous one that resulted It was very damaged during the Lisbon Earthquake that occurred in the year 1755. The building was built in the monumental neoclassical style typical of its time between the years; os 1760 and 1780 by the architects José de Hermosilla and Juan de Sagarvinaga. The exterior of the building stands out for its enormousclassical front composed of four enormous Ionic columns, the pediment, the staircase and the Anaya shield. strong> In the interior rooms it has apatio with a double gallery of columns, the cheers written on the walls of all the Doctors and the bust of the great writer Miguel de Unamuno. Currently this palace houses the headquarters of the Faculty of Philology of the University of Salamanca.
