Departing from Madrid, enjoy this half-day private tour with a guide to official where we will visit El Monasterio del Escorial, considered the eighth wonder of the world and The Valley of the Fallen, in the heart of the Guadarrama mountain range, with the highest cross in all of Christendom and an impressive Basilica where thousands of victims of the Spanish civil war are buried.
The visit begins with the pick-up of the guide at the agreed time and place. A private vehicle will take us to to the town of San Lorenzo del Escorial where we will visit the imposing monastery created by Philip II in 1584. We will visit the jewel of the Monastery, the Library, with more than 40,000 volumes written in several languages and its impressive frescoes painted by Pellegrino Tibaldi. We will enter the Basilica to see the frescoes and cenotaphs of Charles V and Philip II. We will continue the visit to the monastery contemplating the vault of Luca Giordano, we will tour its chapter rooms with paintings by Tiziano, Velázquez, El Greco, among others. We will go down to the pantheons of the infants and the Kings, we will visit the palace of the Austrias, the frescoes of the Battle Room, and the palace of the Bourbons
After the visit we will depart towards The Valley of the Fallen, 10 km from the monastery from where the most famous peaks of the Sierra de Guadarrama can be seen. like the Bola del Mundo or the Seven Peaks This complex was ordered to be built by Francisco Franco in 1940, after the Spanish civil war. We will see the highest Cross in all of Christianity with 150 meters high and we will visit the Basilica excavated in the rock where more than 33,000 people from both sides, national and Republicans.
Once the visit is over we will leave free time and return to Madrid
